The therapists at McConaghie Counseling have a variety of specialties and skills. However, we all share the same philosophy and approach to helping others. All of the therapists at McConaghie Counseling have extensive experience treating individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, anger and grief. Please read the bios below to learn more about our specialties.
Andrew McConaghie, LCSW and Tracy McConaghie, LCSW, RPT/S
received their Master’s Degrees in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1991. After working in a variety of psychiatric, school and children’s home settings, Tracy and Andrew began working in private practice in 1993. They opened McConaghie Counseling in 2000. Their professional memberships include the National Association of Social Workers, the Association for Play Therapy, the Positive Discipline Association, the Georgia Society for Adlerian Psychology, and the Collaborative Law Institute of Georgia. Andrew and Tracy have been married since 1988 and have two teenage children.
Andrew enjoys helping couples and individuals find meaningful, practical solutions using humor, compassion and direct advice. He specializes in helping couples find forgiveness and resolution following an affair or other betrayals. He also works with young adults, teenagers, and children age 10 and older.
Tracy works with adults, teens and children. She specializes in child counseling and is a Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor. In addition, she is passionate about Parent Education/Coaching and is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer. Tracy provides Positive Discipline classes at our office and trains parents, schools and organizations across the country.
Dana Goldman, APC
Dana works with people of all ages who want to feel better and live better. She focuses on clients' strengths and wisdom as she works collaboratively to find long-term solutions. Besides her experience with adult clients, she has training in play therapy for children and has a particular affinity toward teen clients. She is a nationally certified counselor and holds a master's degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Past clients have called Dana "gentle" and "nonjudgmental"
Tara Thrutchley Lozano, LPC
Tara strongly believes in the healing potential and hope within every individual. She has a particular interest in working with teens who struggle with stress, relationship problems, and school related anxieties as well as substance abuse concerns. Tara has an extensive background in working with people of all ages who are struggling with addiction, and she works regularly with families and partners affected by addiction. Additionally, Tara's specialties include Mindfulness and Stress Reduction Practices, Play Therapy, and certification in PREPARE/ENRICH pre-marital counseling and relationship assessments. Tara is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University.
Brent Sweitzer, APC
At the core of Brent’s approach to counseling is a non-judgmental acceptance and a genuine understanding of his clients' world. He has expertise in play therapy, loss & grief, career & spiritual direction, men's issues and ADHD. Brent holds a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University and works with children, adults and couples.
Maggie Walsh, PhD, LPC, RPT
Maggie's approach is non-judgmental and compassionate and she works with each client collaboratively to find solutions that are right for them. Maggie sees clients of all ages, and specializes in working with children and teens. She works to make things feel easier for those experiencing a variety of struggles including anxiety, family issues, interpersonal issues, difficulties at school, mood disorders, behavioral issues, anger, and trauma. Maggie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist with a Master's degree in counseling as well as a Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Practice. When not working with clients at McConaghie Counseling Maggie teaches in the graduate counseling programs at Georgia State University.
Cristiane Uchida, NCC, APC
Having worked in private settings, orphanages, and psychiatric hospitals, Cristiane has experience with individuals suffering from a broad range of mental heath difficulties. Cristiane's areas of expertise include adjustment issues, childhood trauma and abuse, interpersonal/relationship difficulties, successfully navigating major life transitions, and mood/anxiety disorders. Cristiane particularly enjoys helping individuals work towards overcoming struggles and hardships as they build the meaningful and rewarding lives they want to live. She holds a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Fluent in both English and Portuguese, she offers therapy for children, adolescents, and adults in both languages.
Kathy Robb, Office Manager
Kathy Robb is our Office Manager. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and mother of three - a senior in college and twins who are freshmen in college. She is happy to help you with scheduling an appointment, or any other questions you have about the practice.
